CourtView is a Circuit Court starting point

For Macomb County, Michigan, the county clerk maintains criminal files of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court. Start at the Clerk’s Court Records page and follow its CourtView public-access link. CourtView describes data from Circuit and Probate Courts; it is not a countywide search of every criminal, arrest or jail record. Do not use the Register of Deeds land-record search for a prosecution.

District courts handle misdemeanor matters and felony preliminary proceedings. Use the court named on the citation or early hearing notice and the county’s nearby-courts directory to find that clerk. A felony can have an earlier district reference and a later circuit case; keep those references together without assuming that a circuit no-match rules out the district record.

Locate the exact filing before ordering

Search with the case number when you have it; otherwise compare the person’s name, court and relevant dates carefully. Read the register of actions to identify the judgment or sentence you need, rather than selecting a charge entry as proof of conviction. CourtView warns that its information must be independently checked against official court records.

The clerk’s order form accepts a criminal sentence, docket entry, transcript or specifically described other document. Provide the case number, approximate date and parties, as well as your return contact details. If you need exhibits, identify that choice. A focused request for the complete sentence or disposition is more useful than an undefined request for a “criminal record.”

Calculate ordinary and certified-copy charges

Regular copies cost $2 per page, as does a printed Register of Actions. Certification adds $10 to the $2-per-page copying charge, and the entire document must be copied to certify it. A three-page certified judgment therefore costs $16 under this schedule, before any separately selected service. A certified excerpt or a certified screenshot is not the offered product.

Name searches cost $2 per name, with each alias counted separately. The order form says a missing case number triggers a $2 name-search result letter; obtain the number through CourtView if possible. It also lists faxed copies at $10 plus $2 per page and authenticated copies at $10 plus $2 per page. Select the recipient’s required format rather than paying for unnecessary options.

Use the file-room order channel

Circuit documents can be ordered online from the clerk’s official link, by the posted form, or in person. The June 2026 form lists [email protected], fax 586-469-5365, and Macomb County Clerk’s Office, Attn: File Room, 40 North Main Street, Mount Clemens, MI 48043. This file-room fax is different from the court’s fax-filing number.

The form offers email, first-class U.S. mail or pickup without an additional delivery charge. Expedited processing is $32 and described as processing as soon as possible, not a guaranteed completion date. It asks for a maximum authorized charge and says staff will contact you if more funds are needed. For general Circuit records questions call 586-469-5351. Counter service closes at 4:15 p.m. on regular business days. Confirm that the file is available before traveling and ask for the expected turnaround for an older or extensive request; the general records page does not promise one uniform delivery time. District-court copies must be ordered from the particular district clerk under that court’s instructions.

Use Michigan history when one county file is not enough

Michigan State Police’s ICHAT is a name-based search of public repository history and costs $10 per search. It covers reported Michigan information, not all records held locally. MSP lists exclusions including suppressed records, warrants, federal and tribal records, traffic and juvenile records, local misdemeanors, and other states’ histories. An ICHAT no-hit is therefore not a universal clearance.

For your own fuller identity-linked review, MSP describes a fingerprint personal-record check with a $30 processing fee, including associated public and nonpublic history. That is a separate purpose from buying a certified Macomb judgment. If an apparent error is in a court document, contact the court of record; if it is in the repository result, use MSP’s personal-review or correction route and keep the relevant order as evidence.
